Virtual expedition
An actual translation of Katja Staartjes’s lecture into the practical situation at you organisation is possible through a tailor-made virtual expedition package.
The concepts of mountaintops and camps are translated into your objectives and milestones. Metaphors can also be used involving: backpack, rope, climbing team, lead climber, base camp manager, Sherpa, first aid kit, burner, etc.
The focus is on the change or development you want realised within your organisation. The expedition analogy is a tool you can use to help your colleagues visualise and liven up this movement. Good communication (posters, newsletters, intranet) and the involvement of your employees in the course are of paramount importance. The virtual expedition package is an advisory assignment that is shaped in close collaboration with you (and most likely the Communications department).
Of course, it is also possible to follow up the completed expedition package with an actual hike or an easy climb. This could greatly boost team spirit.
